Getting Started¶
Introduction¶
With the CIS SecureSuite Platform now installed, we will get you started on the basics of using the application.
This guide explains:
Login¶
The login process differs depending on the login method. Follow the instructions that match your scenario:
If you encounter issues logging in, refer to the Login section of the Troubleshooting Guide for assistance.
First User Login
The first user to log in to their organization's CIS SecureSuite Platform instance should follow the standard login procedure. Use the CIS SecureSuite Platform Admin credentials entered during installation (username is admin and password is the one you defined). Once logged in, you can create accounts for yourself and others.
Standard¶
1. In Google Chrome, go to your CIS SecureSuite Platform URL (e.g., https://123.456.78.901/SecureSuite/).
Note
When entering the application URL, ensure "SecureSuite" is capitalized correctly.
2. Enter your username/email and password, and select Sign In.
Note
If this is your first time logging in to your CIS SecureSuite Platform account and you do not know your password, contact your SecureSuite System Admin.
To activate and use an account that is being logged in to for the first time, you need to update the password:
3. Enter your new password, enter it again, and select Submit.
4. Enter your new credentials and select Sign In.
Single Sign-On (SSO)¶
Your CIS SecureSuite Platform System Admin may have enabled SSO. If so, log in with your account credentials for your organization's identity provider (e.g., Okta, Auth0, Microsoft EntraID, etc.).
SAML¶
1. In Google Chrome, go to your CIS SecureSuite Platform instance (e.g., https://123.456.78.901/SecureSuite/).

When entering the application URL, ensure "SecureSuite" is capitalized correctly.
2. Select your identity provider.
You will be redirected to your identity provider's login page.
3. Enter your account credentials for the identity provider and sign in.
You will be redirected back to the CIS SecureSuite Platform and logged in to the application.
LDAP¶
1. In Google Chrome, go to your CIS SecureSuite Platform instance (e.g., https://123.456.78.901/SecureSuite/).

When entering the application URL, ensure "SecureSuite" is capitalized correctly.
2. Enter your username/email and password, and select Sign In.
Note
If this is your first time logging in to your CIS SecureSuite Platform account and you do not know your password, contact your SecureSuite System Admin.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)¶
Your CIS SecureSuite Platform System Admin may have enabled MFA. If so, you'll have to set up MFA with your preferred mobile authenticator and provide a one-time code every time you log in.
1. In Google Chrome, go to your CIS SecureSuite Platform URL (e.g., https://123.456.78.901/SecureSuite/).

2. Enter your username/email and password, and select Sign In.
Note
If this is your first time logging in to your CIS SecureSuite Platform account and you don't know your password, contact your CIS SecureSuite Platform System Admin.
3. Follow the instructions to set up your mobile authenticator (e.g., FreeOTP, Okta, Google Authenticator, etc.).
4. Enter your one-time password (OTP) provided by your chosen authenticator and select Sign in.
Resetting user's MFA
In case of lost, stolen, or decommissioned devices, a System Admin can reset a user's MFA by selecting Reset MFA while editing the user.
Navigating the CIS SecureSuite Platform¶
The main method of navigating the CIS SecureSuite Platform is by using the navigation. It contains all the top-level product areas available to your system role.
Home¶
Serves as a landing page that provides an overview of your Benchmarks and Controls performance metrics.
For information on Home, refer to the Home Guide.
Benchmarks¶
View configuration assessments of your target systems against the CIS Benchmarks.
For information on assessing target systems against Benchmarks in the CIS SecureSuite Platform, refer to the Benchmarks Guide.
Benchmarks Console¶
See an overview of benchmark scores in various graphical views.
Benchmark Assessments¶
View and manage imported configuration assessment results. A standalone configuration assessment tool is required for automated import of configuration assessment results.
Target Systems¶
View and manage target systems; run benchmark assessments by target system.
Reports¶
View various assessment reports and export them to share with others.
Inbox¶
Where you receive alerts and exception requests related only to CIS Benchmarks activities.
Controls¶
Conduct self-assessments of their implementation of the CIS Critical Security Controls (CIS Controls).

Controls Console¶
See an overview of controls assessments and organizations.
Organizations¶
View and manage organizations and their sub-organizations and users; start or import controls assessments by organization. This menu item is available only to users assigned the System Admin or Organization Admin role.
CIS Controls¶
View detailed information on the CIS Controls and Safeguards.
My Profile¶
View your system role and organization roles, change your password, and update various preferences.
For information on CIS SecureSuite Platform account profiles, refer to the My Profile Guide.
Admin¶
Perform application-level administrative tasks, including user and organization management, password and login configuration, enabling/disabling integrations, and setting up an external identity provider.
Note
This menu item is available only to users assigned the System Admin role.
For information on Admin, refer to the Admin Guide.
License¶
Check your license status and view the location of your current CIS SecureSuite license.
Note
This module is available only to users assigned the System Admin role.
For information on managing your license in the CIS SecureSuite Platform, refer to the License Guide.
Support¶
Provides links to how-to articles, guides, and other helpful resources.
Logout¶
To help secure your account and information, we recommend you log out of CIS SecureSuite Platform when you are done using it.
